Samina pumped storage power station
Underground Mining Power station construction
As long ago as 2009, JÄGER won the contract for the construction of a storage cavern for the existing Samina plant in Vaduz in the Principality of Liechtenstein. However, construction was delayed because of extensive environmental impact assessments. Installation of the construction site finally went ahead in October 2011. The storage cavern was excavated by blasting. A total of 50,000 m³ of material was excavated over the construction period. The access tunnel was located right next to the existing penstock, which is why extreme care was required in the first blasting operation. Furthermore, the construction site was directly in a residential area in Vaduz, which meant that the work needed to be as low-emission as possible.
